Anthony Depalma of the New York Times on Nantha’s Kitchen :
Montreal is a university town, with three big schools including McGill, one of Canada’s best, which is right on Sherbrooke Street. That means plenty of students looking for inexpensive meals. You’ll find many of them packed into Nantha’s, 9 Duluth East, where the owner and cook, Nantha Kumar, recreates some of the Malaysian dishes of his childhood. Most menu items are under $10, including the very spicy thin noodles called mee goreng or various curries, which can be ordered mild, medium or hot. The stretched tea, a frothy blend of Ceylon tea, spices and condensed milk, is worth waiting for, even if it’s not on the menu. Dinner for two with a glass of wine, $35; (514) 845-4717.
Nantha also organizes and participates in a wide variety of events including his regular monthly Nantha’s Kitchen pop-ups at the Centrale Culinaire, des cours de cuisine ouverts au public et d'autres pop-ups à des festivals, bars et restaurants.
